Latch Free and Cursor: Pin S wait on X

Hi There,

I'm currently looking into a situation where we had a severe performance problem with some app servers a few days ago. I was not involved in the original investigation, and and only now looking retrospectively. The 'fix' at the time was to restart the application servers.

I've looked at the database as it was during the issues and have found  following in top wait events.

I've looked through the latch stats from the same AWR report and it appears that the primary 'problem' is a cursor pin..

I know that this was during a period of higher load on the system.
