Turning on Asset Management Combo Edits

We are on 9.2 PI21 with tools 8.55.14. We have followed the steps to enable AM combo edits, but is not catching invalid or missing departments (department is required for depreciation expense account and is part of asset profile) when user adds an asset. Is there a doc that we can reference? We used PeopleBooks Pages Used to Enable Combination Editing in AM. We have had combo edits turned on for AP and GL for quite awhile and have had no issues. What are we missing with AM?
