Is there a way to delete old journals by batch (i.e. based on status and date range)?

At the end of each period close, our organization re-edits unapproved/unposted journals so that they go into "error" status.  Over time, these have started to accumulate.  Wondering if there is a way to delete these old journals or if an enhancement could to made to the batch edit screen to allow this.
