MSCA Custom page cancel button not working

I have built a custom MSCA page with a text field, a Submit button and a Cancel Button. The text field is required field and when I click on the Cancel button the cursor does not come out of the required field. But all the standard pages exit out of the page when the cancel button is clicked. Could you please let me know how to get the Cancel button functionality?
