Change in commitment is in wrong period

The integrity of old commitments does not appear to be maintained.  If we change a line on a purchase order that has a prior period GL date we must change the GL date to the current period (this is good).  The system then makes two entries: the first is for the new amount in the current period and the second is to eliminate the original commitment.  Unfortunately, the second entry has the GL date of the original order line which is in the past.  This means that the job status inquiry for the prior period would be incorrect.

Here are the steps to recreate this:
