Layer Cost Update

Good day,

My client uses FIFO and trying to update the item cost using Layer Cost Update form, I get a message "There is no inventory layer that matches the specified parameters"

What is the prerequisite for doing a layer cost update?

How does one get the layer number?

Can anyone help with a manual on layer cost update?

This is really urgent...
