Upgrade issues with 11i Activities

Dear Gurus,

  We are upgrading oracle instance from 11i to R12. We are making some major organizational changes so, we will be using totally different and a new server and instance. The way we are planning on converting everything... is to close the period in our 11i instance, and not open up any future periods in 11i. we will take all the data from 11i to R12. Question is for AP close, we will need to sweep the records to the next period which we don't want to open in our 11i instance. What are our options at this point. it
