For contract or service billing is it possible to save a pdf file as a media object and have that pd

We are an E1 9.1 JDE shop. We generate about 40,000 invoices for various types of service a month. Many of these require attachments when submitted to the customer. We are trying to determine if a PDF or perhaps some other file type (not text) can be attached to either the F4812 record, or the F5202 record and be appended onto the R48507? We use the text media objects heavily, for other purposes. We're having trouble with the appending piece of this.
