Need suggestion on rebuilding or recreating an index

Hi ,

I am having a peculiar situation where i have a table of almost 1TB,my index is of around 50 GB,Currently my index is in invalid status now i want to use the index.

For that is it better to rebuild an index or recreate an index.

Which one is better ?

Please post your suggestions.
