windows patches for RANSOMWARE virus

Hello,

   We aware about RANSOMWARE virus attack.Therfore the windows patches has been provided by Microsoft.

So we need to apply that patches in our server's 2008 R2  - we having that server are -JAS Server  ,BI server ,deployment server and the server that is having database installed of BI .

My Query is  --

1) If i apply these windows patches to our servers, the current installation files of JAS Server  ,BI server ,deployment server will be effected ??

2) Before applying these patches what precaution should be taken care of?

Please suggest on this
