Future Data Revisions - adding a future value of blank to date fields

I'm trying to use Future Data revisions P06042 to add a blank future date value to data item PADT.  We have a business process where this date field is to be cleared after the interface has gone through to disable benefits.  When I add a line item with a blank, an error appears:

Blank Field Invalid

Cause : A value is required in this field for processing

Resolution - Enter a non blank value in this field.

Since I want the date to be blank, I've tried entering 0 - Error appears, I've tried entering 01/01/1900 - takes this value which causes a lot of other issues, I've tried using the word BLANK - error appears.
