UDC vs Category Code

HI

Would someone be able to tell me if there is any application difference between these two terms?  Or are they fully interchangeable terms?  If not fully interchangeable what is the difference and can the difference be highlighted by way of an example?   I use mostly the JDE financial modules so my questions relates mainly to this area.
