Trace file reached 35 GB and still getting bigger

I have a DB 12.1.0.2 installed.

The database is open and noticed that in the same directory that with the alert.log there is a trace file 35GB (dbname_tt00_19509.trc) and the corresponding trm file is 2 GB.

Both files are still being written in.

Can someone explain to me why this is happening and how I can delete them before they consume all the partition space.
