BU Type for Work Center

Does anyone know if the BU type of the work center is not set as "WC" will cause any problems ? Or the "WC" is used to filter the BU but nothing else ? If this is true which means I can come with any wordings (other than BS, BP, IS) for work center BU type ? Thanks !
