Siebel IP2016 upgrade from IP2013

Team,

I have few doubts regarding IP2016 upgrade

Please help me to clarify it.

1. Unable to add IP2016 installed siebel server into IP2013 siebel gateway - getting error as "unable to connect siebel gateway"

After I have upgraded gateway into IP2016, I can able to add that server. Still the db is not yet upgraded into IP2016.

Is it expected behaviour?

2. What is the difference between doing IRM using below methods.

a. master_upgrep_dev_81111.ucf (At certain step, it does IRM)

b. "Tools->Upgrade->upgrade Application"     -     Merge Repository window comes

c. starting irm command from "siebdev.exe /u username /p password /d "ServerDataSrc" /c "SIEBEL_TOOLS_ROOT\bin\lang_code\tools.cfg" /l primary_language /IRM UpgDeltaMerge /iPackmode"
