Real application testing evaluation

Hello everyone,

We're evaluating RAT(real application testing) for database upgrades only. Sometimes we've seen slowness of sql statements after databases upgrade, so is it really worth to purchase a license just to fixing SQL statements that have regressed due to upgrade? How much benifit for application point of view? I'd appreciate if anyone can share use cases/business benifits etc.
