I have question regarding JRE upgrade for EBS

If I upgrade the Java version on desktop to 8 and on the server if I still have the default Java 6 version, I assume the EBS will use Java 8.

When does the server Java version comes into use - only when the client doesn't have the Java installed on the desktop or have the lower version than the one defined on server?

If the corporate is planning to upgrade all the desktops to Java 8, I assume all the EBS will use Java 8.

Do we need to also upgrade the server version to Java 8?
