OTN - How to switch the back end database

in Oracle Global Trade Management (MOSC) Question

New to this forum.  What is necessary to be able to switch the back end database for OTN.  We did a search for occurrences of the db connect string, and have tried to change this to a db that is mirrored with the current.  Upon startup it stalls and seems like some startup operating is not authenticating properly.  We also found the actual IP addresses being generated upon successful startup that belong to the current database, so somewhere these are being generated - but where?
