OAB - Has anyone created a dummy benefit plan just to store beneficiary data?

We are implementing EBS OAB, and are maintaining the pension information outside of the EBS system.  However, we'd like the employees to be able to update their beneficiaries for the pension plan (no elements, no other data besides the beneficiaries being identified/tied to the employee).  Has anyone done this, and if so, any suggestions?
