Custom table for attachments

Hello Folks,

I have  a requiremet to take the back up of activities and associated attachments on to a custom table. We have already created a custom table to store the activity data and need to create one for attachments.

Please let us know if there are any best practices or reccomandations while creating a custom table to store attachments?
