ADI Error for TAG number

We deleted some assets via deletion API as the assets were created incorrectly as Capitalized instead of CIP. Now we are trying to reload the assets via ADI but getting error 'Tag number is already used. Please enter another'. These assets are deleted from the system and I am not able to query the assets with TAG number. Why are we not able to use the TAG number which is manually generated number and not system generated?

Also I trued to create an asset via workbench using the TAG number and faced no issues. Only getting error via ADI. Is this a an ADI bug and can we proceed to create assets and reuse the tag number via workbench?
