Extract failing after upgrade to 12.2

I just upgraded my GoldenGate instance from 12.1.0.2 to 12.2.0.1
After starting, extract abended with OGG-01416 File <trail file>, with format RELEASE 12.1, does not match current format specification of RELEASE 12.2. Modify the parameter file to specify format RELEASE 12.1 or issue ETROLLOVER prior to restart.
So, I issued a alter extract <extract name>, etrollover.
When extract was started, the trailfile was not incremented. The previous trail file was still being used and extract failed again with OGG-01416.
Any ideas on why etrollover would not increment the trail file?
