Cover and Uncover function

Hi,

Can anyone explain me the functionality behind "Cover and Uncover" function.

We are using the following rule for calculating "Forward Cover and Closing Stock"

Forward Cover = cover(Closing Stock, Sales + MD)

Closing Stock = uncover (Forward Cover, Sales + MD)

Now i want to understand how cover and uncover will calculate the value for Forward Cover and Closing Stock.
