Using flex fields and UOM

Hi,

I am working on 6.4.2 OTM.

For some reason we are required to capture distance traveled for an order (even before planning) in a flex field.

We are using attribute_number6 to capture distance. But not able to define the UOM so OTM is picking it as Miles.

Help says to use this we need to make sure that the string flex field value is provided along with the unit of distance  such as MI, KM, etc otherwise the default unit is considered. I have no idea how to define a flex field as a particular UOM; in this as KM?
