Increase ZFS Volume size for a disk presented to a Kernel Zone

I have kernel zone which has two zfs volumes presented to it by the global zone. I'm out of space on one of the volumes. The zpool containing the 2 volumes still has 50 GB available. After I change the volsize parameter from 50G to 80G the volsize parameter reflects 80G but the available figure from zfs list does not change. The volume is a zpool within the kernel zone; I set the autoexpand parameter to on, but it does not grow. Using format from within the kernel zone also indicates that the volume size has not changed.
