Storage for Oracle 12.2 grid/database

We are on oracle 12.1.0.2 RAC on two node Linux 6 and considering upgrade to 12.2.0.

The two Linux servers have 80GB local hard drive each and database is on SAM through Oracle ASM. I feel we might not have enough space for the upgrade, we are currently around 80% full on local disks.

SA told me they have to rebuild server to add additional hard drive and suggested to use SAN.

I'd like to know is it ok to install oracle binaries on SAN partition?
