P43100 purchase order date maintenance does status update only when promised has been changed.

We would like to use P43100 for all PO`s to have an order status that shows that the supplier confirmed the delivery. I guess that would require a modification of P43100? Or is there other functionality that could be used to record the supplier confirmation updating the order status?
