tns-12541 after updating listener.ora in RAC 1

Hello - not familiar to RAC, and we've  1 node RAC running on EXA.  Updated the listener.ora for 'extproc' configuration and getting the generic tns-12541 - no listener since the change.  Even after reverting back to the original listener.ora, still getting the same error.  "srvctl status scan" show the listener status as enabled and active on both the nodes.   It looks like updating listener.ora shouldn't be handle the same like in non-rac. Appreciate any input to get this fixed , thanks!
