Updating serial numbers for instances

Hi Team,

We are planning for a data clean up in IB by updating serial numbers for instances which are not having serial numbers right now. Can we do this through csi update api, please confirm.

Also, can you list the prior tasks to be done in IB before updating the instances with the serial numbers.
