scary duplicate database in same server and nofilenamecheck

Hello Oracle Guru's

I know, some of the dba`s (atleast me) are scared to run duplicate database in same machine, as sometimes if SET NEWNAME syntax is wrong I feel there is a chance it can use existing database PATH.

nonfilenamecheck parameter - I do not get this point why we have to use nofilenamecheck if we want to restore it to different PATH and we dont want to same datafiles to be over written.
