Can Item Code/Name Be Changed In Oracle Inventory?

Hello,

We have a requirements to change item codes or names in inventory master item form.

After search i found "INV: Updateable item name" profile option, this allows the name to be changed, But I need to confirm the there will be no data integrity issue for historical transactions or any available on hand quantities.
