JDE Mobile Environment for Custom IOS Dev? E1 Ver 9.1, Tools 9.1.5.9

I've run into roadblock after roadblock, following various versions of documents. We're E1 Version 9.1, Tools 9.1.5.9. I'm running a Macbook pro.

Most recently, I've attempted to set up the environment and follow the instructions "Creating a Sample Mobile Application" outlined in the document E56635-08 titled "

JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Tools

Developing and Customizing Mobile Enterprise Applications Guide

Doing a build for IOS simulator, I am running into a host of java syntax errors that I am not equipped to dig thru at this time. The app at the point of error is very simple, and steps were followed very specifically as outlined in the "Creating a Sample Mobile Application" walkthru. I have to think that it's an environment setup problem.
