Calculating Quarter with a Customer Fiscal Calendar

On the Opportunities object we utilize a custom date field for reporting called Award Date.  Our fiscal year uses a custom calendar that is/will be setup in the fiscal calendar features under Company Administration.  So Period 1 of Quarter 1 runs from 9/30/17 - 10/29/17.  If an opportunity has an Award Date of 10/5/2017, when I create a report what is the syntax I would write that would recognize the dates on our fiscal calendar and translate the Award Date in Quarter #1?
