How do I set a criteria for uniqueness of contact records?

Hi,

I see that OOTB CRMOD has a uniqueness constraint on Account creation - which disallows users to create accounts with the exact same name. On similar lines, is there a way to place such a constraint on Contacts? My business requirement is to ensure that all contacts within the system will have unique First Name - Last Name combinations. Can this be done by setting a specific profile option. or is there another workaround for it? Please assist me with the same.
