rman backup for rac db

Hi:

I have setup rman backup for the rac db. I am sure that I may have set it up wrong.

I have a node0 with instance PROD1 and node1 with instance PROD2 and the db name is PROD

The backup did not use a recovery catalog. It uses controlfile. The rman backup is setup as cronjob to run on node0 and the same cronjob is not there in node1. My question is do I need to setup the same job to run at same time on node1 as well? But it is essentially backing up the same db?
