Creating a new JDE instance

Here is the requirement. I need to create a separate JDE instance of our current production setup.

Not a separate environment, but a separate instance all together, with same production data and objects.

Now, how I am planning to accomplice this is,

Basically install a new setup.

Install new SM, Dep Svr, plaformpack, workbench, new HTML server new fat client, apply the tools release

Then move the custom/modified object via boomerang

and do a data refresh, to get the business data into the new setup.

Does any one have any better or simpler idea on how to go about it? Or any tips/note for me to keep in mind will be much appreciated.
