Impact of using item master for performing transactions

Hello Experts,

I have a very basic question to all experts to have a concrete points on why Item Master organization should not be used for performing any transactions.

I request all experts to pitch in to share your thought points to justify the same pls.

One o my reputed client is using Master Org to perform transactions and we are suggesting them not to use as per best practice.
