Depreciation Allocation

I have a user that is trying to use the depreciation allocation function to change chartfield values for all transaction types in a transaction group (ADD, ADJ, DPR, PDP, etc) before they are journal generated to GL.  I realize the program is called depreciation allocation, but can this function be used for other transaction types?  I can't find anything definite in peoplebooks.  Thanks!
