Activity Instance ID in workflow

Hello,

We have requirement, where we need work flow but don't want to use email link for approval.

In WF we used "send message extended" for sending email for approval. that is working fine and we are getting email.

However we want to use another application for approval but it ask for "Activity Instance ID" where to find this to pass in the approval screen so that approval process work smoothly?
