Item short number changed

Dear Support,

Initially we had an item 82-51038 whose short number was 129053 and today while receiving the OD I got invalid item error

and when I checked item master I found 82-51038 has short number 129110 and there is no record at item master for the original short number 129053.

Can you please suggest how this issue happened?
