REDO Log Size Recommendations When Moving to ODA X6-2-HA

Hello,

We are considering the purchase of X6-2-HA ODAs to run our production environment. Our current REDO requirements and future goals require 1TB of REDO (based on our current hardware).

This may seem excessive, but let me explain:

  • Our redo logs are sized according to Best Practices for Synchronous Redo Transport  (http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/availability/sync-2437177.pdf)
  • All of our databases are RAC. Some of our RAC production databases have standby databases, but our goal is to have standby's for all of production and convert those to Cluster databases.
  • All of our databases have some type of bulk load/high transaction operations that run throughout the year requiring large amounts of redo to support.
