Service profile option"Service: Default Parent Information"

Hello,

I am reviewing all of our Service profile options as part of our upgrade to 12.2.6.  I came across profile "Service: Default Parent Information" and wanted to see if this could address an issue we are having when creating Service Requests for items that are a child in an Install Base Configuration.  The option choices are "Default from Product in Service Request Header", "Default from Revered Item Instance" and "Do Not Default".  I am unable to find any documentation which explains the function of this profile option.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
