R46150 Split Sale Back Order Line

I would like to find out where and how JDE handle Split Back Order Lines.  

I found the white paper - E1: 42: Split Sales Order and Line Number Assignment (Doc ID 1430995.1)

I thought R46150 will split the Sales Back Order line and write a new sales order line but I am not sure so I can just call R46150 per Shipment Number.

Could you please confirm the functionality and let me know what is the best approach to put the split function into Row Exit of P4915 Work With Shipment?

Please let me know if you have any suggestion.
