RCV: Processing Mode- Immediate vs Online

Hello All,

Can anyone share me the difference between Immediate vs Online processing mode with few business case on how and when its applicable.

I could see the explanation in oracle guide but felt its more generic without much difference. Online processing mode, as a standalone is self-explained but when seeing immediate I really wanted a difference.

Immediate    The transaction goes to the interface table, and the Receiving Transaction Processor is called for the group of transactions that you entered since you last saved your work. 
On-line    The Receiving Transaction Processor is called directly.
