Material Classification Tagging not available for items serialized at receipt

12.2.6 has a new feature regarding material classification tagging which allows product specific information to be added to items at Pick/Ship.This is enabled only for items that are not serial controlled at Receipt.Why is this feature not available for items that are serial controlled at receipt?
