VS 2013 - Unable to debug - No symbols have been loaded for this document

I have been using a project without any problems for some time.  As from yeterday I am unable to debug in VS 2013 I get the following error:

The breakpoint will not currently be hit.  No sumbols have been loaded for this document.

Does anyone know what causes this?
