Auto Allocation Subinventory Default on Work Order

Hello,

We have the same inventory items in multiple subinventories in the same org.   We do not have any default picking group list rules setup.  When the WO is released, inventory is allocated from a seemingly "random" subinventory.  We would like to understand what criteria is used to select the subinventort to allocate from when no rules are setup.
