ALERT: "ACFS-9459 ADVM/ACFS is not supported on this OS version" Encountered While Installing or Loa

Please note the following ALERT as this issue will affect all ACFS installations on RedHat Linux 7.4:

Applies to:

Oracle Database - Enterprise Edition - Version 11.2.0.1 and later
Linux x86-64
 

Description

Attempts to install or load ACFS drivers on RedHat Linux 7.4 environments (even with patch 26247490 applied)  will fail with the message:

"ACFS-9459 ADVM/ACFS is not supported on this OS version"

Occurrence

This will affect all ACFS installations and/or ACFS loads (included by not limited to fresh Grid Infrastructure installation) on RedHat Linux 7.4, even with patch 26247490 already applied.

ACFS drivers are supported for kernel release in RHEL 7.4 (3.10.0-693.el7.x86_64), but the issue occurs because compatibility/support validation is broken. Specifically, weak-modules is not returning the expected strings.
