Ldap AD integration

How Can I prevent updating First name and Last name with AD refresh? I have updated agile.properties to make first name, last name and email as editable but whenever I pull the latest info from AD, it is overwriting the values changed by users. Appreciate if you have any workarounds to prevent this update.
