Recategorization question

Hi - Has anyone customized the Recategorization functionality in Asset Management? If so, how did you do it.  We interface our assets over from Project Costing and are finding that, while the recat function works very well within AM, the original Profile ID is still attached in PC. This causes any additional cost lines to default to the original (incorrect) chart fields. Is anyone else having this business process problem and how did you solve it?
